Seeking Volunteers: Con-Bust 2016

4139846569_132a094861_bSmith College’s Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, Con-Bust, is now seeking volunteers to help out the convention staff for April 1st-April 3rd.

Many of our generation’s most beloved stories draw inspiration from religious tales. C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books and his Space trilogy are basically retellings of stories from the Bible. J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth books deal with the constant struggle between good and evil. It is no surprise that Tolkien and Lewis were in the same writers’ circle. Even the protagonist from Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda video game series was initially conceived with the Cross on his shield.

This would be a good outreach opportunity to let Pioneer Valley science fiction lovers know we exist, as well as to talk about how the movies, T.V., and stories of today mirror the faith stories of old.
